Gumboot Friday

Gumboot Friday
Gumboot Friday is to help people think about mental health. Some people have a mind that is not healthy. They feel sad. On Gumboot Friday some people wear gumboots. This reminds people that some people don’t have a happy mind.
We wrote positive and helpful comments on a piece of cardboard and we put them in people’s mail boxes. We want the comments to make people happy. It worked. One lady sent a note to school to say she liked the note and it made her feel good. Neeve thought of the idea.
This term at school we are talking about Hauora-wellbeing. It is about having a healthy body and a healthy mind.
If people don’t have healthy minds they will not feel well. But if they do have a healthy mind then they will feel just fine. Everyone must have a healthy body and a healthy mind. If they have a healthy body and a healthy mind then they will feel well. Sometimes when you have negative thoughts you will not feel healthy at all. But if you have positive thoughts then you will feel well. Negative thoughts will make your body hurt. But positive thoughts will make your body feel well. Some people feel sad sometimes so that is why we made cards for them to make them feel well.
